I love this album. I think I know every word to every song on this album. It may be over the top, it may be extravagant, but you know what? I love it regardless. Meat Loaf has one hell of a voice, Jim Steinman's songwriting is at its best and his piano playing is awesome (the opening to "Bat Out Of Hell". I mean come on), and Todd Rundgren's guitar work (see: the motorcycle sequence in the titular track) is phenomenal.
This album is sick. _________________ 2023 Chart

As Rocky said above, it's incredibly over the top, extravagant to the point of vulgarity. But, sometimes, that's a good thing! Not everything should be measured and cool. I'm not a great fan of most of Meat Loaf's stuff from what I've heard, but here it plain works. Steinman and Loaf have a good go at blotting out the sun with sheer sonic oomph, and while it ain't perfect it's still admirable.
Also that title track? Stone cold fuckin' classic. _________________

I'm not a huge meatloaf fan, so I can't appreciate too much of the album, but I gotta give him credit for that intro. I mean that's gotta be one of the most exciting starts to an album ever.

I'm not crazy about this album, but I love that a corny overblown good time can crack the BEA top 400. _________________ Finnegan was super bad-ass.
