Lonnie Johnson for me. He was just such a unique genius of the guitar who was a precursor to the legendary likes of Charlie Christian, Django Reinhardt, Robert Johnson, etc. He was a very early jazz and blues pioneer. Please vote for him. Listen to him some more and then vote.
I don't really have a whole lot of passion for comparing guitarists, but Curtis' understated playing was some of the best ever. He knew when sit back and let other instruments do the work, and he knew when to throw the kitchen sink at it. He probably can't do cartwheels or shred or take diminished sevenths to new dimensions, but if Curtis is playing guitar then you have nothing to worry about. Everything will be OK. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
