I don't understand how these words make sense in this order.

I'm more into production and modern hip-hop does more for me in that department. Of course I love albums like Labcabincalifornia, 6 Feet Deep, etc., but as a whole, I tend to prefer present-day hip-hop over '90s hip-hop.

I'm more into production and things that I can relate to, which tends to work more for modern hip-hop albums. I'm not into lyrics all that much (of course they matter, but they're not the most important thing for me) so listening to boom bap beats and just spitting don't do much for me. I respect these albums for sure, but I couldn't say that I prefer "hardcore hip-hop" over lush production. Of course I'm always open for recommendations so if you think that there's something from the '90s that would appeal to me, I'm all ears.

I really struggle to get into this one. I admit my instinct when listening to Hip Hop is to focus on the beats rather than the lyricism on the first listen (because I'm so white etc.), and the beats here just do nothing for me, couldn't say why. When I do listen to GZA I realize just how on-point he is, but on the surface I can't enjoy it. All apart from 'B.I.B.L.E', which is one of my all-time favourites, fantastic atmosphere built there.

I love this album and it would definitely be on my chart if not for 36 Chambers, "Duel of the Iron Mic" is probably my favorite

'4th Chamber' is the shit. The Shogun Assassin samples are also amazing.

I don't love a ton of '90s hip-hop albums! I love a few, though. Very Happy

I prefer '10s and '00s hip-hop.

What about good ol' 60's & 70's hip-hop. Wink

Anyway. Yeah, masterpiece. I'm surprised about the lack of interest in the production on this album considering it's amazing. Particularly the second half.

I would love a copy of this:

EDIT: Also, awesome album artwork.

Basically this for me as well. Though a solid track. The title track, shadowboxin', duel of the iron mic, cold world, 4th chamber, gold, Killah hills, investigative reports are all absolutely stunners.

And I know this may be an oft lamented problem but why oh why doesn't GZA end the album? The closing statement should e from the ringleader. Anyway... Who am I kidding? this album is for the ages.
