Way over-rated for me, maybe it is a cultural thing. I like it, but it doesn't come close to 'great' status.

Took me some time to appreciate it. Still don't love it, but I rather like it, just feels like a less good version of

Electro-Shock Blues by Eels

to me

Obviously, but it's like... they don't even have similar sonic ideas at all.

I mean "Electro shock blues" is great and all but it's almost nothing compared to the amazing generational defining masterpiece which is this album which is album of the day. "MaA" just communicates for me all the overthought, meta-thought, fucked up ideas of the modern western. It's so indirectly angry at everything and so suspicious of... Well, everything. It's such a neurotic, scatter-brained , drunken, drugged out concept , that we are all sort of left to grope in the dark at all these half baked philosophies of everything that we kind of are left all sorts of crazy like Brock is in this masterpiece of modern music.

Why does life have to seem so forlorn and empty to us? This album doesn't really answer this question so much as reassures us that this disillusioned q exists for many who surround us right fucking now.

I'll admit I'm pretty dunk right now ... But still I think this is some of TVZ basic allure of this masterpiece and classic modest mouse is general. And yeah I rate this higher than but on almost the same high plane as "Electro-ShocK Bluez" ... Also a damn awesome album.

I love you, man. *tearrs , hugs*

Hugs back.

I love both, don't get me wrong, and I've come to appreciate MaA more, like it'll be on my overall on my next update (working on it), but I just find them similar in some rights and appreciate Electro Shock more.

Doesn't do anything for me. I've listened to it a couple of times in the last fortnight, trying to decide if I should use it as part of one of my BYT teams, and I just get nothing from it at all. It's a shame. I always thought that it would click one day, but it never has.

I go back and forth on Modest Mouse. Sometimes I think they're brilliant, other times boring as fuck. This is their most consistent record though.
