I was have been using this site, passively, to look into bands of interest. I have found the album rating system very helpful, particularly when researching less well known artists. I have certainly unearthed some gems I would possibly not found otherwise. So basically I'd like to take a less passive approach and get involved, possibly discuss reasons behind recommendations in a little bit more detail. And just hear about the music you love and why you love it.
Thanks
Chris

RE: now if love to see your favorites in the form of a chart...
I have been giving that some thought, I'm working on it.

Just put together a top 25 list. The rankings are best described as loose and changable. I'd be interested to hear anyone's thoughts.

Welcome! Like the chart so far. Find it funny your Pixies ranking is the exact inverse of most people's

Hi dividebyzero, yeah I totally understand your comment on my Pixies rankings. It's something that I gave a lot of thought to, Pixies being a band I am so fond of. I think what it came down to was for me I would agree with most 'dolittle' and 'surfer' do indeed contain most of the strongest Pixies songs. But the flow of 'trompe'' and 'bosanova' and there compositions as albums I find so beautiful. 'Tromp' in perticular plays to me like a 40 minute symphony, there is a stunning melancholic air that bleeds right through the album, a unique Pixies sound that is set up with speed and mania with Trompe le monde and planet of sound which grows and evolves right through the album ending with the beautifully mournful sounds of motorway to rosswell and navaho. (on a side note I also believe it to be Santiago'so finest work). Making any devised order for the Pixies albums contained on this list was very tough for me. But if I was rankings tracks the list would certainly follow a somewhat more traditional less inverse ordering.

I have also gone back and forth with thinking Trompe le Monde is my favorite Pixies album. It's hard to decide because the band was so consistent, but Trompe le Monde is maybe the most cohesive of their releases. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com
