'Hard to Explain' shows that Casablancas might be the best English-speaking white male pop lyricist of his generation.

.. Can't say I agree with that in any way, but while I still find Is This It quite overrated and have cared even less for what they've done since, "Hard to Explain" is close to perfect and gets my vote over the fine but somewhat neutered dirg e that Modest Mouse used to pull off in much more aggressive fashion.

Really good Modest Mouse song, but Hard To Explain is basically perfect. I briefly toyed with nominating it myself.

pretty confused by this comment, to be honest. casablancas' lyrics aren't anything special to me. meanwhile, isaac brock is generally considered one of the best lyricists in the indie scene and has inspired a ton of artists within the scene.

casablancas... well, the strokes in general, really come across as too clever by half, so i guess my bias might be bleeding through this a bit, but i don't really get it. what about this track makes casablancas the great english speaking white pop dude?
