Hey everyone! I was just curious as to how many times you usually listen to an album before adding it to your chart? For example, even if you really love an album on the first couple of listens do you still hold off before adding it just to see if it can stand the test of time?

For me it's usually around 8-12 listens before i consider adding an album to my chart!

Let me know I am really interested to hear your thoughts Very Happy

Peace and Love

I have added an album after 1 listen before a few times. Then I raise it higher and higher or I drop it off entirely.

I used to give new (current year) albums 3 listens before making a decision to add an album to my collection (and BEA) (or only 1 listen if i absolutely disliked it). Old albums i used to give 1-or-2 listens. Nowadays, aka within the last year, i've shortened that to 2 listens for a current year album (or only 1 if i absolutely loved or disliked it) and 1 listen to an older album. I just don't have as much time as i used to to listen to everything i want to.

If an album is on my chart, I'll probably listen to it more often, but I usually listen to a new album one time before evaluating if I should keep/delete add/not. I'm decent enough at getting an impression of how I like an album that this is the only way that makes sense to me as someone who is constantly wanting new exposure.

Usually once or twice. But my charts are not really static at all, so an album usually finds its right position at 5+ listens.

I'd say at least 7 to 10 times, but you don't think about that ... oh I must listen to it at least X times so that I'm sure I love/get the record and can put it on my chart !
If you like the record, you won't after the very first listen add it to your chart ... at least that's not what I'd do... And not what I do... You have to digest the record ... Enjoy it at different emotional levels.
No I think you pretty much lost count if it really means that much to you.
