Those are just embarrassing and quaint, but this is truly a bore. It's too "artsy" to have the innocent fun of Please Please Me and Help, but feels 20 years behind Revolver and most of the albums that came after that. |
Sometimes I wonder if you actually read what you post on the AOTD threads.... |
Well, to be fair, I've never actually listened to the Rubber Soul remaster like I have with most of the other Beatles albums, so maybe it was just the production that felt flat to me.

Pretty much loved it more than any others Beatles albums since the moment I heard it and it's still high on my overall chart. I love it to bits. _________________

It was more of me just reflecting about what my attitude to music was like three years ago when I thought the Beatles were the "best band ever" and ever since I've expanded my musical knowledge and found some new favourite genres and artists over the years, everything that revolves (no pun intended) around the Beatles has just become dull and can no longer give me that kind of enjoyment anymore.
I don't mean any disrespect to anyone that still has affection for their music to this day and don't think you're a musically ignorant 15 year old for liking them. _________________

Shout out to Paul's bass, what a treat.
My current earworms on this record are "The Word" and "You Won't See Me". Paul literally knocked that out in a night to have enough tracks within the time frame and Anne Murray rode as a career hit.

A good precursor to Revolver. I've never liked it as much as Revolver though. Or Abbey Road for that matter because I don't like Girl or Michelle all that much. There are some really brilliant moments on here aside from that though. Norwegian Wood is a masterpiece. _________________ Attention all planets of the solar federation: We have assumed control.

In My Life is one of the greatest songs ever written in my opinion. Such a bittersweet song.
As mentioned earlier it isn't their pop music, but it quite isn't Revolver grade music yet, but overall a great record. Number of other great tracks including Norwegian Wood, Nowhere Man, The Word, Michelle and Girl.
I remember reading the Anthology it is called such because Motown America thought they didn't have soul... they sounded a bit rubbery to their taste or something like this, so the Beatles thought it would be funny to own up to that and call their record Rubber Soul.
