Sometimes it seems like the majority of people who say "you should listen to today's music and give it a chance" when it's turned around and old fuckers like me say "why don't you try listening to some older music and give it a chance" they don't.
Seems to be a one way street here on BEA. Personally, I have taken advice on new and newer music and found some that I like a lot and some that I don't. But at least I gave it a go.
Maybe I'm wrong.
As for my first album I posted, Queensryches Rage For Order, it appears nobody even gave it a chance. I find this somewhat strange for Operation Mindcrime and Empire are on many charts and it's not like Queensryche is some totally unknown and obscure band.
O.K. maybe it's to metallic for this site I don't know. So I will try again and post an album that I think is great that does not appear on any charts on BEA.
AND IT'S NOT METAL
In 1978 I was a big Heart fan and liked all 4 of their albums they had made. But during the next 6 years, other than a couple good songs, it seemed that the magic was gone for Heart and I, like many people at the time, pretty much had given up on them.
But in one of the greatest comebacks in music Heart made an album in 1985 that was amazing and I bought it and played the hell out of it.
This is the album

Now, there are 11 songs on the self titled Heart album so I will post 6 of them.
There are some good bands/artists and albums on that chart of yours and some surprising ones that do not appear on any other charts.
3 Sleater Kinney albums
Cranberries
Depeche Mode
Plasmatics
Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald
To name a few.
.
sleater kinney is so underrated on BEA. but i'm mostly surprised not to see Jeopardy - The Sound in any chart (and only 3 votes! ), one of the best punk albums ever,
STYX has been making albums and touring for over 40 years and they are one of my favorite bands and are for sure in my top 5 American bands all time
To my amazement STYX is only ranked #481 on the BEA best bands list
IMO this makes STYX one of, if not the, most underrated band on BEA.
I have Paradise Theater on my chart not so much because I think it's that much better than the other STYX albums but mainly because it's their best concept album for which I give extra respect and credit for.
The album I wish to present can hold it's own against any STYX album and IMO has some of the best drumming and bass playing the Panozzo brothers have recorded along with their best backing vocals.
Now, it seems to me that the first person (member) most people think of when you mention the band STYX is Tommy Shaw. No problem, Tommy Shaw is a great guitar player, singer, and lyricist. But this album was made before Tommy was even in the band.
This album is made in the U.S.A. progressive rock and was ahead of it's time. Consider if you will that it was made the same year as Wish You Were Here by Floyd and before Trick of the Tail by Genesis. There are no bad songs on it and has the most epic song STYX ever made on it as it's closing track. The album starts with the sound of a joint being smoked and is a great headphone listening album
Even with so so lyrics this would be a great album for the music is brilliant. But the lyrics are in fact excellent and at times as good as any songs they ever wrote.
I have posted all of the songs on the album (in the order they appear) and included the lyrics.
This is the album from (1975)

John Curulewski - synthesizer, guitar, vocals
Dennis DeYoung - synthesizer, keyboards, vocals
Chuck Panozzo - bass, vocals
John Panozzo - percussion, drums, vocals
James Young - guitar, vocals
If you would like a taste of the album I would suggest listening to track 3 Mother dear or track (7),8 Suite Madame Blue.
Light up everybody
Join us in this celebration
Light up and be happy
Sweet, sweet sounds will fill the air
Every day's a holiday when your lips meet mine
The music's keepin' time with our love
You are here, and so am I
The weather's quite divine
So pass me round your wine, lovely one
All I need is just one hit to get me by
'Cause baby when your near I'm halfway high
Light up, everybody
Join us in this celebration
Light up and be happy
Sweet, sweet sounds will fill the air
When I think of Lorelei my head turns all around
As gentle as a butterfly she moves without a sound
I call her on the telephone, she says be there by eight
Tonight's the night she's moving in and I can hardly wait
The way she moves, ooh-ooh
I gotta say
Lorelei let's live together
Brighter than the stars forever
Lorelei let's live together
Brighter than the stars forever
Her eyes become of Paradise, she softly speaks my name
She brightens every lonely night, no one's quite the same
She calls me on the telephone, she says be there by eight
Tonight's the night she's moving in, it's time to celebrate
The way she moves, ooh-ooh
I gotta say
Lorelei let's live together
Brighter than the stars forever
Lorelei let's live together
Brighter than the stars forever
Lonely child you make it easy
You give me love like no one can
You're my heart, you keep me movin'
It seems you always understand
My love, I'm your man
Lonely child you make me happy
You take my fears and set them free
Every night you hold me closer
Like two notes in harmony
Come spend your life with me
Lonely child be my lover
We'll make love in the morning light
Weave your magic spell around me
And come spend your life with me
Time after time I sit and I wait for your call
I know I'm a fool but why can I say
Whatever the price I'll pay for you, Madame Blue
Once long ago, a word from your lips and the world turned around
But somehow you've changed, you're so far away
I long for the past and dream of the days with you, Madame Blue
Suite Madame Blue, gaze in your looking glass
You're not a child anymore
Suite Madame Blue, the future is all but past
Dressed in your jewels, you made your own rules
You conquered the world and more ..............heaven's door
Red white and blue, gaze in your looking glass
You're not a child anymore
Red, white, and blue, the future is all but past
So lift up your heart, make a new start
And lead us away from here _________________ .
