I suppose BEA will support Wakaliwood in these troubling times.
I've made this list if anyone wants to dig up some gems from the decade: Underappreciated 2010s
Some are still pretty popular but just don't seem to get watched. I'd give a heavy rec to Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts if anyone's looking for an original twist on a western. |
No problem Hayden. Hell I'd argue I prefer Bad Black over Who Killed Captain Alex.

Per the gentle prod, I'll try to contribute, with the significant caveats that...
1. I don't pay quite as much attention to film as I do music, so there's going to be some major holes in what I have seen
2. I don't recall what I do watch the way I recall music
3. Like a lot of guys in my age bracket, I'm relatively weak in this most recent decade
So, grain of salt and all, here goes (in alpha order, my biggest standouts in bold)
12 Years a Slave
Beasts of the Southern Wild
Deadpool
Ford Vs. Ferrari
Frances Ha
Free Solo
Game Night
Gravity
Green Book
Hidden Figures
The Kings Speech
La La Land
Lady Bird
The Martian
Parasite
Sully
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri
What We Do In The Shadows
Wind River
I'm sure I've missed many I think great but just can't recall off the top of my head and will recognize as others post.

Appreciate the list Fischman
BUT... I'm going to need an order . I'd be happy to tally your bolded four as your top four and tally the remainder in alphabetical order though.
And appreciate it matterhornrider Tallied. _________________ Submit Your List for BEA's 2023 Film Poll!

Thanks for extending the deadline, I have plenty of watching to do although I really like the look of my top 70-80 right now. _________________ Finally updated the overall chart

Yeah, I figure it'll give everyone a small breather to screen a handful on their watchlists. Also, should bring in more lists. We're doing okay though, plenty of films have been submitted
And thanks Panapsal, tallied (as a list of 9, I can't count GoT).
I'm going to rec a film that may have slipped under the cracks, but is easily one of my favourites of the decade:
Thumbnail. Click to enlarge.
Paterson (2016) dir. Jim Jarmusch.
Well deserving of far more praise than it got. It's a beautiful film. Driver/Farahani + a bulldog is a brilliant combo. Not to mention the kids from Moonrise Kingdom have an interesting cameo. And Method Man. Can't forget to represent Wu-Tang. It's quirky yet grounded, and full of heart.
if it was up to me, it would've won the Palme D'or in 2016.
Related, I also recommend reading Paterson by William Carlos Williams (before or after, either way). _________________ Submit Your List for BEA's 2023 Film Poll!
