Going to try to get a list in proper but as is it would only be 9 movies so I'm going to use that as encouragement to go through some of my watchlist. Also, how are we counting 47 Ronin? One movie or each part is seperate?

It's. It much of a list cuz I don't have nearly as much familiarity with 40s films as I do more recent decades. But nonetheless I threw this top 40 for this poll.

The Shop Around The Corner
Brief Encounter
The Philadelphia Story
The Third Man
Rome Open City
Citizen Kane
Letter From An Unknown Woman

His Girl Friday
Drunken Angel
Paison
Germany Year Zero
Bicycle Thieves
Fantasia
The Lost Weekend
Arsenic and Old Lace
Meet Me In Saint Louis
Late Spring

Miracle on 34th Street
The Treasure of Sierra Madre
Day of Wrath
Children of Paradise
The Maltese Falcon
The Grapes of Wrath
Rope
Notorious
Dumbo
The Big Sleep

Spellbound
The Great Dictator
Great Expectations
Beauty and the Beast
Meet John Doe
Rebecca
The Magnificent Ambersons
To Have and Have Not
The Best Years of Our Lives
Bambi

Some of these movies have not been getting nearly enough attention (Ivan the Terrible, Late Spring, and Day of Wrath specifically) but hoping for a good result nonetheless.

Please don't do it, no matter the answer.

Also what the last guy said, citizen Kane is gonna get it, followed by Casablanca or Its a wonderful life. People just seem to love them some C. Kane.

Well in that case, I can fit a couple more in. Working 12 hour days today through Thu but I'm sure I'll watch something Fri and Sat. I'll send my additions.

Didn't get through my whole watchlist and not going to be able to do much more today. Here's what I've seen, minus a couple I didn't like, sorry this is largely Disney/other kids schlock. Also been since middle school since I saw a few of these so it's very possible I'm being overly easy/hard on some:

1 It's A Wonderful Life
2 The Great Dictator
3 Cassablanca
4 Alice in Wonderland
5 The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
6 Citizen Kane
7 The Wolf Man
8 Border Patrol
9 Holiday Inn
10 Tarzan's New York Adventure
11 The Invisible Man Returns
12 Dumbo
13 The Three Caballeros
14 Miracle on 34th Street
15 Bambi
