Why isn't best of 2016 an option?

Whatever the next one is, this'll be the one after it. I'm assuming 99% of users still have a heavy 2016 watchlist. There are even a pretty large handful of films I want to see that just simple aren't available yet.

That being said, if you want to hype up any films from the year, be my guest. There's plenty that I'm hoping people get the chance to see before that list begins (particularly Personal Shopper, Paterson and The Salesman, all of which are fantastic films).

It looks like maybe La La Land will be top 10. We shall see, but that would be a mild shocker on account of how recently it was released.

Also cool list AwaitingAndrew! I didn't have American Beauty cuz I honestly forgot about the romantic element in it. The main thing I recalled from it was Kevin Spacey's storyline. But now I remember.

Anywho... I am hoping to see more lists. Maybe it will jog my memory on some.

Aight, I feel like I need to disclose that right now we have 353 individual films submitted so far, with only a fairly skimpy 76 of those appearing on more than one list.

I think we might have bit off too vague of a genre to define Anxious Either way, I'm hoping for more lists to show up.

(If there aren't anymore submissions, the final list will have to be capped at 75 rather than 100)

Just a note on one of my more weird picks, The World of Apu. I was wondering if I overweighted the romantic aspect of the film. So I decided I'm gonna revisit it again.

I watched it tonight and I see that while the romance between Apu and Aparna only officially lasts from about 35 minutes to 65 minutes in the film, it's pure poetry. There's something truly profound and heartbreaking about the origin of the marriage. And every shot of the couple builds up its own comfortable and recognizable space. It's a masterpiece.

Obviously from then on the whole basis of the film drifts away from that tragic relationship. But it's all tied back to it. He's broken finally and the film examines how he tries to come back from this seemingly never ending tide of heartbreak he has experienced, culminating with his wife.

But again, I am completely enraptured by every moment of interaction between Aparna and Apu, the banter and button pushing and sweet comfort. Also the early despair and confusion of them both as they get thrown into this relationship. Followed by their very tangible love and admiration with each other. The actors'connection as actors or "chemistry" is flawless. I think Satyajit Ray with these 30 minutes of World of Apu along with Charulata and also The Big City has created some of the most interesting and thought-provoking cinema about love and relationships between husband and wife I've ever seen.

So there. I know no one will include the world of Apu on their list, and I totally understand. But those are just my thoughts.

Also yeah The World of Apu is top 10 all time for me as a film and the Apu Trilogy is a step above probably every film trilogy I've seen. It's astoundingly good.
