Posted comment: Prince entered the 80s not playing around at all. This might prove to be my favorite overall Prince album.

Yep and he has a half sister who is indeed 16 years older than him. So that lends an even greater Possibility of some factualness there.
But yeah first 4 or 5 times I listened to the album I didn’t pay attention to the lyrics at all, just the grooves and the music. When I finally delved into why this album was boundary-pushing, I was shocked a little bit.

Posted comment: I love live music, even recorded, but this was not an album I was raised on. Great stuff, but I sense the original tracklist was more essential and revelatory in an environment where there was a lot less live material available to fans.

Posted comment: I can't get past wondering how much stronger this might have been if Madonna had been able to commit to the Prince influence throughout.
Notes: I read a little about how this writing relationship between Prince and Madonna didn't really pan out. Can't really blame her for that, but still, give me more Prince on almost anyone's album.

Notes: Really though. I was going to be biased toward the album with Use Me anyway, but Just As I Am absolutely dies at the end. And seriously, Use Me.

Posted comment: Hard to deny some of my favorite musicians writing songs together, but this is miles removed from the peak output of anyone involved.
Notes: Planet Waves is one of the albums I seem to be all alone in loving, so I should be more familiar with this than I am. Especially since I actually have it on disc. Sometimes you have to have outside influence to look inward, I guess.
