"Clunkers" = made up word meaning a dud, a filler track, a failed track, something that doesn't work IMHO. |
No I know what it means. I just can't believe you could believe that statement. Blonde on Blonde... London Calling... Exile On Main Street.. those all have clunkers? _________________

Blonde on blonde, no.
London calling, no.
Exile on Main Street, yes (turd on the run)
Songs in the key of life, yes (contusion)
Sandinista, yes (the crooked beat, and others)
White album, yes (covered earlier)
Etc....
As for London calling and blonde and blonde, well look earlier in the thread at me and mcfrogger's back and forth. You'll see what I mean by double album.
I WILL SAY THAT I WAS BEING A BIT TOO GENERAL THOUGH. I see that I wasn't totally right. _________________ -Ryan

If you're going to say Exile has clunkers, then I'd choose I Just Want to See His Face.
Anyway, Please Please Me is kind of boring overall, though There's A Place is at least not that bad regarding its lyrics, and the opener and closer are enjoyable.
If I wanted a fun record, I'd listen to the White Album, Abbey Road, Sgt. Pepper or MMT, not this.

Alright, that's another example of a suspect track on Exile. Although the highs are pretty dreaming high (Ventilator Blues is one of my all time favorite tracks.)
And I can see why you would think PPM is "Boring", however I disagree. I think if you like old rock and roll, PPM is just hit after hit after hit. I really really like it ALOT. I agree those 3 albums you named as well as Revolver, and rubber soul, are superior albums in my opinion. _________________ -Ryan

Yeah, Rocks Off, Rip This Joint and Tumbling Dice are all in my top 10 Stones tracks.
I find most of A Hard Day's Night a much more satisfying version of PPM's rock and roll. As for Beatles albums superior to PPM, except for With the Beatles, pretty much every other album is. By the way, have you listened to Past Masters?

No I never have heard The Past Masters. I've heard good things about them. They're like alternate versions of songs right? _________________ -Ryan

Uh, no, it's just a collection of all the non album singles released in their career.

Oh. Cool. |
Actually, not just singles but basically everything they released that's not on the albums.
There are a few alternate versions of album tracks among them, such as Love Me Do, Get Back, Across the Universe, Let It Be, etc.
Anyway, I think you'll like some of the rock and roll tracks there, such as Long Tall Sally, Slow Down, I Feel Fine (you might've heard this one already) and I'm Down which are among the more fun ones.
