Can't really blame him/her for that. If I knew nothing about music i would probably assume that too. Ramones stuff has really gotten out of hand.

It really has, but why...?

Absolutely one of the worst albums I've had the displeasure of trying to get into. I'm not big on punk in general, but this is easily the worst punk album I've ever heard. Could be the vocals.

When I went to Universal Studios in Florida a while back on my way out there were bus loads of loud-as-fuck teenage girls arriving. While I was waiting for my bus I was just sitting there counting Ramones T-shirts as they went passed and literally every 2 out of 3 girls were wearing Ramones shirts. It really pissed me off for some reason. I think people just buy them to say "hey, everyone i like punk rock! Look how against the grain I am!"

assholes.

Yeah, the Ramones logo and the front cover of their debut is just as iconic as this album cover. And I have observed the same thing starting to happen with the Misfits logo. How many of these kids that buy a shirt with that cool ass skull logo can honestly say they like or love the misfits? I'd guess 50% at best. But thats just my opinion.

As for this album and how it stacks up to other classic straight pink albums, well I think it stacks up well.

If say it goes:
1. Wire - Pink Flag
2. Never Mind The Bollocks
3. The Clash
4. Leave Home by the Ramones (the best of theirs)
5. Damned Damned Damned
6. The Dead Boys - Young loud and Snotty
7. Buzzcocks' Singles Going Steady comp
8. Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers' LAMF
9 etc...

But is it as iconic as The Rolling Stones tongue? I've seen that on things that are completely unrelated to the band.

Some people. Evil or Very Mad
I actually own quite a few music shirts and I have a really cool blue Ramones I got cheap, I feel I'm allowed however as I'm a big fan (Have the majority of their albums and have heard them all, even the bad ones later on in there career like Adios Amigos...) Cool

This. I often see little girls wearing the RS' tongue on their T-shirts.

Hmmm, I was just thinking about this and I'm not sure. Because the Rolling Stones are a hugely popular band I guess the tongue was bound to be put everywhere sooner or later. I was actually thinking of buying one of their T-Shirts a while back when I was going through a Rolling Stones obsession phase but I never bothered in the end.

The tongues definitely not as common as the Ramones logo though...yet.
