I can't believe that I forgot to add some important movies on my list Sad
anyway I really like our list, the #1 is a surprise and probably not my favorite but I noticed that there are a lot of movies that I should watch, thanks for the recs and thanks Hayden for doing all this, amazing work.

I was loving it until #1. I mean, I expected it to appear SOMEWHERE, but yikes. Not terrible though (Empire is the only movie in that whole franchise that's even close to watchable for me).

But if Star Wars wins the 70's poll, I will eat my own face.

I've actually never seen Star Wars, so I have no clue if I think it's a worthy film to top the list, but it's what BEA chose Mr. Green

I've also never seen Blade Runner, Do The Right Thing, The Terminator, The Breakfast Club, Once Upon a Time in America, The Thing or Die Hard.... so I guess I have some catching up to do.

But yeah, 70's is next Smile I think I'll open the poll on Feb 1st and close it on Feb 29th.

I absolutely love episode V as many do. I just think it works on many levels. But I love Star Wars even more. The pace of those first 2 is astounding.

Anyway, Hayden, I think of that list you'll especially love Do The Right Thing. It's such a brilliant film

Too saturated with hollywood fluff and blockbusters. But I guess I shouldn't be too surprised.

Empire is a great film and I love it to bits, but to see it at number one is so jarring. And I'm definitely sad to see Kiki's Delivery Service being snubbed, but I guess that's what I get for not participating. Apart from that, I can't comment on this list because there are a lot of films here that I have yet to see (yeah I suck, haven't had the time to indulge myself with film lately). But, it hasn't really done anything to grab my attention and to get me motivated to watch the films like the previous lists.

I think this was the most interesting so far of the decade polls because most of us I presume were either very young in the 80s or born afterwards, so there's less primary nostalgia than previous decades and more a sense of distanced cultural perspective than ever before. And fine list, yes even with some fluffier choices as most of those were pretty good, nice to see Almadovar make it as well as Come and See and Sans Soleil's strong showings. I however have never gotten into the Shining at all and have always been greatly dissapointed by that adaptation, which I guess personally is this poll's version of Shawshank Redemption and Eternal Sunshine.

Anyways, yeah great job Hayden and let's bring on the cool cool 70s, can you dig it?

I also think that that's the film I'll enjoy the most. I really should have made time for it before I sent in my personal list.

I've never even thought about watching Blade Runner or Die Hard... I'm not sure why. I'll give em a shot when I can though.

Thanks Cool I'm glad people are enjoying these. It's always a bit of fun. I'm looking forward to some 70's film recs. I haven't seen very many films from that decade, but I've loved nearly all of the ones I've seen. Definitely gotta get on Apocalypse Now, Mirror, All That Jazz and Nashville next month.

While I respect that opinion, I kind of like it. It is refreshing to see action flicks (really well made ones, classics in that genre even) alongside more serious, introspective, experimental films. I think it's a good, solid mix and it the list comes across very unpretentious and beautiful.
