Following our final nomination, I have been able to split the teams into groups. In order to do this, I took each 'micro-era' ('93-'96; '97-'00; '02-'06; '12-'17) and put the years through a randomiser, basically taking one year from each micro-era and putting the groups together that way. Here are the groups:

Group A

1996 (Streams)
1998 (RoundTheBend)
2005 (PossiblyMichigan)
2012 (eyezayzay)

Group B

1994 (baystateoftheart)
1997 (LedZep)
2002 (babyBlueSedan)
2015 (Purplepash)

Group C

I have a tiny Talib Kweli on one shoulder telling me I should just pick my favourites, and a tiny Suge Knight on the other telling me to just put out the teams that I think are most likely to win. (Both are devils in this scenario.)

You should definitely go with popular favourites like Nas, Raekwon, Lil Wayne, Puff Daddy, etc... Good stuff. Master P? Classic.

I like Tha Block Is Hot. Not enough to consider picking it, but it's better than it gets credit for. Strongly considering a different Cash Money album, though, even though I highly doubt it will be a votewinner.
