Even on some perfect albums some people will nitpick and say this or that would be better left off.Though i can see where u guys are coming from as most of my favorite albums are under short and 45 minutes and I get inpatient when listening to long albums. |
I agree with you. If an album is very good, I don't care if there is a mediocre song on it. For example Revolver with Yellow Submarine on it is much better than without it, even if I think that's the weakest song on the album and many people think the album would be better without that song. I think it just belongs there, the whole album would be less without it. And I appreciate all the other songs on it more, especially She Said She Said, the song which comes after Yellow Submarine and is the final track of the A-side.
As for A Saucerful of Secret, it's not really a consistent album but one thing is consitent on it: it's dreamy atmoshphere create a calm sound on the whole album, no matter if it's Corporal Clegg, the title track or See-Saw. I love the album as it is.

Exactly. The only possible way to enjoy a good song is to listen to a bad song and compare it. Once I heard an album where every song was perfect. I had no idea what to do.

I love that song (I LOVE THAT SOOONG)
I love that song (I LOVE THAT SOOONG)
I love you, song (I LOVE YOU, SOOONG)
I love you, song (I LOVE YOU, SOOONG)
Anyway, of all of the songs that have been mentioned from Benji, I used to dislike all of them at some point. Now, they're among my favorites. "I Love My Dad" is lesser in substance, maybe, but it's a terrific song nonetheless. "Dogs" is just a fun history, both funny and a little sad. "Jim Wise" is... a masterpiece. It's easily one of my four favorite songs on the whole album. It's this beautiful testament of what this guy has to go through, all of which is to show how much he loved his wife. But honestly, every song on Benji is essential, even if I think some songs are weaker than others.
Also, I absolutely love "Real" from Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City. The only song I like more is "Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe." If only for the voicemail at the end, it's a terrific track. The groove is nice. Kendrick's verses are top notch. I even like the repetitive refrain. I can see how it could be annoying, but it works well enough.
Anyway, I think that if Funeral didn't have "Crown of Love," it would be the best album of all time. Not only is it a hokey and shitty track that's impossible to take seriously, but the album would flow better, and be more emotionally cathartic without it. _________________ Inversion Verses

Some much needed comic relief. Chuck D is an angry motherfucker, the album needs a playful cut.

Too much contrast for me. Fucking love the rest, though.
