Not sure if BEA crowd will be appreciative of my picks for this tourney, but that's fine. Went with 3 diverse party/rave tracks, and Generation One is the darkest, hardest of them. Also, my favourite track of the three and probably of the whole year. Sinister melodies and the fast, aggressive rhythms are pretty much everything I love about techno and electro. Hope that people who're into raves and that style of music/culture will appreciate Umwelt's banger, and the rest can at least imagine how powerful this track sounds live in a DJ set. I was actually at Umwelt's set in Ljubljana a few months ago, this was the 2nd track of the set after a lengthy ambient-ish intro and it caused frenzy on the dancefloor.
Love Stranger. It's so atmospheric and great sounding that I don't even mind the kinda mediocre vocals. Guitars remind me of The Chameleons, The Cure, Clan of Xymox etc. 100% my style, so I'm not happy to vote against it. _________________ Finally updated the overall chart
Well, all I can say is that The Haunted Youth are my favorite Belgian band ever, which puts them ahead of The Names, Slow Crush, Hooverphonic, DEUS, and Plastic Bertrand, among others. (Jacques Brel was also from Belgium, but he left for Paris almost as soon as he got his first record deal, so...)
For some reason, instead of choosing this track for their third video from this album, they decided to make one for a song called "I Feel Like Shit and I Wanna Die," which might be because they thought "Stranger" was too "light" or something and they thought their fans wouldn't relate to it as much as they would to feeling like shit and wanting to die. It was an odd decision to be sure, but they know their fans a lot better than I do... anyway, there's a decent (though shortened) live rendition of "Stranger" at the 7:40 mark in this concert vid.
I apologize in advance to the Belgians and to anyone who may be offended by my assessments.
I do not distinguish not only the countries, but also the names of the performers.
Now I rather forget those I knew than remember new ones.
Age makes itself felt and helps to be impartial.))
Umwelt - Generation One
There are no marks about this artist in my ratings.
And I practically do not cast nets in this genre.
However, every cell of mine has grown on dance music.
I will give an example from the last that I remember for comparison.
Vitalic - Rave Against the System
It's similar, but completely different in quality, in my opinion.
There is development, escalation, and culmination here, which is not on Generation One.
The Haunted Youth - Stranger
This group gained attention in 2021 with their single Teen Rebel.
MGMT, Empire of the Sun - I also have many associations, this is my sound.
This concludes my notes about the group.
At the same time, more than half of the tracks managed to take shape as singles.
It's too commercial for a debut album.
There is another sign that this is about money too.
Sometimes the abbreviation SME appears next to the rights to this music.
Two tracks of approximately equal strength.
I choose more independent.

Totally! It's totally my style. Great atmosphere. Will be interesting to see how this grows on me. A little worried it might be a tad too tepid & generic. But definitely a great sound.
Umwelt track is lit, although maybe a bit much for my taste in electronic music. Voted for it though.
I liked The Haunted Youth track as well, I plan to listen to the whole album. Still not sure about the vocal performance and I can't help but feel it may be a bit generic. Still, it definitely is my style of music so I'm curious see how the whole album is. _________________ Griselda, by Fashion Rebels 2020's Hip-Hop 2020's Country

Ditto.
Also I didn't notice the mistake before, but Umwelt is actually French (from Lyon), not from Berlin. _________________ Finally updated the overall chart
Unfortunately, Umwelt reminds me I’m too basic to get electronic music, I have to admit I barely made it through.
On the other hand, Haunted Youth are far from the most original band out there – apart from the influences you guys correctly pointed out, I can guess they grew up listening to stuff like Slowdive or Cocteau Twins - but they remain enjoyable nonetheless. _________________ Bob Dylan Charles Mingus
