Mine too and I also love Desire. Originally Mercury and I discussed doing a "First 15 years of Bob Dylan" thing as there are some really good albums from Dylan in that decade. However, the 60's is the most consistent Dylan era and we don't have to deal with defining what are the essential Dylan live recordings.

First off, thanks for this Cubazed. i absolutely adore Blood On The Tracks and Desire. I also love Oh Mercy, Time Out Of Mind, Love And Theft, Modern Times, etc. however if we were to extend this for Dylan's entire illustrious (albeit up and down) career we are looking at 35-40 officially released albums. I just don't think that too many people have heard all of them or have much of an opinion on, say, Down In The Groove and Dylan 1973 and Saved and many others. Also just doing the 60s presents us with lots of choices, like Folk Dylan, protest song Dylan, introspective folkie Dylan, rock Dylan, Americana/roots Dylan, country Dylan, etc. it's also a beautifully fitting era where every album but perhaps his debut (which I also adore honestly) is widely considered classic by certain groups of people. Also the decades output ends with another classic with the 70s starting with a widely dissed album "Self Portrait" (again, I peraonally quite like it, although it's not up to the standard of any of his first 9 records.) So, yeah I think this is cool.
Okay, here goes my rankings...

Ah good. I started to listen to more Bob Dylan this year so I'm much more familiar with his stuff now than, say, a year ago. Here's my ranking but it kinda felt arbitrary; I mean when you get the guy you can enjoy most of his stuff because they are top notch.
Highway 61 Revisited
The Times They Are A-Changin'
John Wesley Harding
Bringing It All Back Home
The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan
Blonde on Blonde
Another Side of Bob Dylan
Nashville Skyline

ooof, i rank them in clumps but its hard to rank those clumps
1. Highway
2. Bringing it
3. Blonde
4. Freewheelin
5. Times
6. John Wesley
7. Another Side
8. Bob Dylan
9. Nashville Skyline
One thing i never got was why he is Time out of mind to present era has received such acclaim? Like i listened to them and saw him play a lot of it live and it just comes across as so bland and forgettable to me, i mean don't get me wrong its not awful like 80s Dylan but i just found modern day Young, Cohen and Waits more interesting. Am i alone? Am i missing something?
