All the serious albums are on here. All the albums that a serious music listener gets and absorbs and sees as truly great. I personally don't love a lot of these totally "avant garde" "serious" "groundbreaking" albums because they are really just annoying mostly (Trout Mask Replica, The Parable Of Arable Land, etc). And there are so many albums on here that have become cliche to love or recommend if you're one of the real cool kids around here.

But some actual personality shines through on here. Not my fave but it's pretty good.

No one is a "serious music listener". Who would want to listen to serious albums anyway? I'm looking for fun and life in music, not to appear like I am the oracle of "serious" music listening. Drool

Why make a generalisation about everyone based on only yourself? Lots of people like serious albums for the same reason we watch serious movies or read serious books - there's a lot of value in the things that make you think.

So Puncture Repair, you're not only a "serious music listener" but also a serious moviegoer and a serious reader? Are you a serious mechanic too? Rolling Eyes

I can almost guarantee our little friend will not answer that directly. Because he/she just doesn't have any communication skills I guess. What a shame.

As for my comment, I mean I personally love albums that push boundaries and sort of challenge you mentally and make you listen differently and so forth. I think the thing is that there are so many albums on this chart that just kind of predictably go with other albums on this chart that I really just feel like I'm looking at some sort of committe-agreed, Scaruffi-informed, completely researched chart of albums that really "intelligent music listeners" think are absolutely essential. Like there aren't too many albums I haven't heard in here and the ones I haven't heard I've herd of so many times from a certain crew of people around here and Scaruffi. It turns me off sometimes and it doesn't feel 100% personal. Although, probably, this chart is totally personal and The Gollux really does just get more enjoyment out of these albums than any others.

In the end I'm probably just an uninformed musical cretin.
