Okay, okay, okay...Ghost's vocalist sounds like Weird Al Yankovic. I should've voted for them just based on that but I didn't for some reason. XD
Ghost is the closest thing we’ll get to a perfect merging of modern doom metal aesthetic and Blue Oyster Cult’s soundscapes. Opus is wonderful. And not 'generic' by the way. But hey I don't consider Jess and The Ancient Ones, Blood Ceremony, and many of their peers generic either.
I really enjoyed both of these actually, but the one with the most staying power, and the one that brought up the most memories and feelings, was Oldham.
Ghost are fun, but Oldham's debut is perfect, one of the masterpieces of the 90s. When it came, it totally changed my perspective and my tastes, one of the records that had the hugest impact on me in my twenties.
I voted for Opus Eponymous. That album blew me away this morning. I love me some will Oldham, but Ghost just completely nailed their sound on their debut. _________________ -Ryan
