Lick My Decals Off, Baby by Captain Bee...Magic Band

Chart: Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by lancashirearab
Rank on User's Chart: 5
Year: 1970
Rank on BEA Overall: 2,236
Average Rating: 77/100
Summary Info: Captain Beefheart's fourth album and the follow-up to Trout Mask Replica. It continues the experimental approach of the previous record but works with longer musical lines based on Van Vilet piano improvisations.

Details on the implementation and chart selection process of "User Pick of the Day" can be found here and here, respectively. A chart documenting the previous picks can be found here.

Sp4cetiger you got the title mixed up. Laughing

Anyways, this is probably my second favourite of Beefheart's albums (after Trout Mask Replica). Peon is just gorgeous.

And I Love You, You Big Dummy is the most romantic song to ever exist.

No love for Safe As Milk? It's easily my personal favourite Beefheart album.

I love Safe As Milk too, but I still prefer Trout Mask Replica, Lick My Decals off, Baby and Doc at the Radar Station. Though Electricity is perhaps one of Beefheart's best songs. Smile

One of Beefheart's better albums, behind Ice Cream For Crow for my fifth favorite of his, still a bit of a disappointment after Trout Mask. Also this is the perfect excuse to post this fine bit of advertising. In plain view it's Captain Beefheart.

Safe As Milk > Spotlight Kid > Clear Spot > Doc At The Radar Station > Lick My Decals Off, Baby > Trout mask Replica > Mirror Man Sessions > Ice Cream For Crow and that is all I think I've heard.

But yeah, Lick My decals off is great.

And the highlight of Safe As Milk is "Yellow brick Road" and " Sure Nuf and yes I Do" as well as "Electricity" and a couple other lesser gems. His debut is his greatest work.
