This is the most schizo ULL ever. I like it in it's humor. What it sometimes lacks in in-depth discussion on music it makes up for with some pretty witty parts and the element of SURPRISE.

Good stuff.

OK Go by OK Go

Ooh these are the music video guys right!?

Uh ... yeah, I guess. They're really good musicians though, they were really raw on this.

Ben you dance to this. Don't pretend you love the intensity.

I love it because it's intense and dancable. It's like Teledrome, yeah, it's really dark and I love that, but you can also dance to most any track. It's great.

No, you just look like an idiot.

Granted.

I want to listen to happy music now!

Alright, well, there is one band that even cheers me up ...

Sidewalks by Matt And Kim

Huh, I've never listened to a Matt & Kim album in full. I think I've heard everything off this, but never together. Works surprisingly well so far, I like this a lot.

Admit it, though, you've never figured out the lyrics to Block After Block

Nope never!

Oh come on, have some faith, it's ... uh ... it was whey now is white what was left now is right hey friends we'll jump back in styles and cut it down while the lights are out eyes closed and shouting right now?

Eh, close enough Italy. Close enough.

Embracism by Kirin J Callinan

This album is the most claustrophobic thing I've ever heard.

Yup. Hazey if you were frightened by my "album" I'd not recommend this.

I love it

It's uh ... it's a little weird

It's barely anything recognizable as music at moments, it becomes its own thing. The soundscapes are some of the best I've ever heard. Lyrics are interesting as well. There's a reason Kirin, face in hand, lives on my wall above my bed.

Is it like a reverse dream catcher to ensure nightmares?

Very funny, but that's actually your job.

And I pride myself on it.

In Utero by Nirvana

Ben you meant to listen to Nevermind

I know but I misclicked so I don't have dialogue for this

Why don't you just switch?

Hey I like this one, it has some interesting

Shut up, Italy, we both know which is better.

Well

Italy.

OK.

This one's better lyrically IMHO but I think nevermind is a special brand of music that's never been replicated.

Sliver: The Best Of The Box by Nirvana

Nirvana live were magical.

I always have a bit mixed feelings as it seems like there are moments he gets lost in the music and well ... I don't know. It feels like he's not really feeling it as much as he's feeling the song.

I guess maybe on Unplugged but here, not so much. Not at all. This is as genuine as music gets, I think. Just raw and right there, it's really incredible. It's hard to say this isn't a more enjoyable listen than anything else labelled "by Nirvana". There's always that bit in me that doubts that singers really feel what they're singing, but it's hard to question Cobain (or Curtis or Silberman or others).

And yet you do

Eh, I question everything once in a while. I really just enjoy him.

Not used to you standing firm quite like that

I have my moments.

Oh trust me I've gone through a lot of grunge (I had a phase ...) but Nirvana, to me, was always something more special than anything else, and while yeah they were grunge, there was something special there past just that. It's like Madvillainy and because the internet are both hip-hop as far as what they are, but, IMO, Madvillain pulls off something unique outside of just being hip-hop and transcends into its own special brand of it (as do some other hip hop artists) that really hasn't been replicated, there's just something special to them that sets them above Gambino and separates that project from other hip hop albums at its level (see: Black Star, RawHyde, etc).

Feels weird to break this persona, doesn't it?

Where was I for the past 5 minutes? That was weird. I didn't like that Ben ...

Madvillainy by Madvillain

So let me guess why that example popped into your head.

Yeah yeah.

The Sun And The Moon by The Bravery

NOTE: Listening to the complete version, with all the Moon versions included.

I love the Sun side here. The simplicity of Tragedy Bound and the interesting Lord of the Flies metaphor in Believe are really interesting being paired with some intense stuff but almost entirely just pop.

I've always been a Moon guy myself. Everything becomes much dancier and even the tracks which get a darker beat are frankly still enjoyable in a fun way, like with White Lies

Wait so Boldy, you like The Sun?

Yup

And Italy, you like the dark remix version which was made to counteract how bright The Sun is at times?

Yeah

I gotta say, I do find myself listening to The Sun when I'm in a bad mood but I jump more to the remixes in a good mood ... no idea why. Right now I'm somewhere in between, so I'll hear both.

Soundtrack To The End by Communist Daughter

Weird to me that these guys didn't get big. "Speed of Sound" would actually be a perfect radio song IMO.

(short commentary I know, I'm running around, I'm sorry guys)

I'm not

It's OK, I'll be sorry for both of us! Yay!
