With the year coming to a close, it's time to do what this site was made to do -- make a best albums list! Here's how it's going to work (similar to the Pazz & Jop poll, via meccalecca):

1. Every user will get up to 100 points to distribute among as many albums as they choose, with no single album receiving more than 30 points. You should send your list to me via private message in the format I detail below.
2. Every user will also get up to 30 points to take away from albums, again distributed amongst as many as you choose. Use this to indicate albums that you particularly dislike or think are overhyped. This is, of course, optional.
3. You have until the end of January. When I've collected all of the votes, I'll present the BEA best albums list. The length of the list will depend on how many votes I get. Note that I won't be presenting a "Worst Albums" list, I'll leave that to the BEAMAs.

SUBMISSION FORMAT - Send me a private message with your list. Rather than writing out the album names by hand, please use the "Insert BEA link" box in the upper right corner of the private messaging text box. This will insert an image as well as a link, but you can leave or delete the image, I don't care. Here's an example list (not mine, for demonstration purposes only):

Black Messiah by D'Angelo

20

Absent by Hayden Who

20

Neon Icon by Riff Raff

20

Rich Gang: Tha Tour, Part 1 by Young Th...p; Birdman

5

That isn't a bad example list, actually.

Maybe set it up with statistics, to see which albums end up on how many lists, and then we all collectively shame ourselves for not having enough The War on interesting music On Drugs

But now, sounds like fun, though Im still a little confused about the whole format

I'll be happy to clarify. Do you mean the voting rules or the way you're supposed to write out the private message?

My guess is that this and War On Drugs won't even make the chart just because of the sheer number of negative points they'll get. Even if half the charts give them both 20, the other half'll probably give them -15 ... it'll be an interesting list in the end.

That's quite possible. In a way, that's not too much of a bad thing, it might give other lesser known albums a chance to shine, especially albums outside of indie-rock, which tends to dominate such lists.

Though I purposely made no mention to the War On Drugs because... I... kinda... like it! *GAAAAAAAASP*

I suppose I expect St. Vincent, Black Messiah and perhaps Run The Jewels 2 to feature prominently since they are very popular and haven't experienced much by the way of a negative backlash.

Oh yeah, don't think its a bad thing. Thought War On Drugs and Benji were both OK, but not great, so I took points from each. Even though they're just meh, not bad, I feel they're both just pretty overrated.
