Yeah, that's exactly what I think. At least, it'll be something different. _________________ - An aspiring Music Journalist.

Hmmm... I'm pretty excited. I think Dylan has always been a brilliant interpreter of songs. For this reason I really enjoy his Christmas album, also his debut is amazing and his 2 albums from the early 90s which were old folk and blues covers - As Good As I Been to You & World Gone Wrong - are masterful. He'll even the covers on his widely hated album Dylan from '73 were hilarious! Etc etc etc...
I don't particularly like the crooning music of Sinatra. But I think Dylan (being my hero) will find a way to make it good. We shall see.
As for albums since Desire, uuuhhh ...I can think of lots of great ones.
Yay for Bob Dylan! _________________ -Ryan

I feel the opposite way. I could have Sinatra narrate my life, but I can only handle short spurts of Dylan's nasal talk-singing, so I'm curious to see how he pulls it off. _________________

Haha...I'm torn between you two (Mercury/Dmercado). I love both Dylan AND Sinatra, so of course, I expect only good things from this album. - (Also, yes, Dylan has always been a great interpreter. I was blown away when I first bought 'Good as I've been to you' and 'World Gone Wrong', not to mention the Christmas album - combining Christmas AND Dylan together? Yes please!
Hmm...perhaps I'll make another Forum a couple of days after 'Shadows in the Night' has been released. Then we can all come back and discuss how it went...? _________________ - An aspiring Music Journalist.

I'll take the time to check it out, but I'm not breathless with anticipation.
On the other hand, if Dylan did an album of Busta Rymes covers... _________________ Finnegan was super bad-ass.

only good part of Frank Sinatra's music is that he has a virtuosic voice for what he's trying to accomplish
only hit-and-miss part of Bob Dylan's music is that his voice is not virtuosic whatsoever so he always has to make the music around it deliver it as folksy and idiosyncratic and introverted and intellectual instead of cloyingly annoying
not sure how those two things can mix into a good album

then he'd be making annoying racist novelty that would be more becoming of a stand-up comedian who makes money through YouTube recordings of his performances than of one of the most fascinating geniuses of the 20th Century

Yeah, well...that's exactly why I think it'll be good. If not anything else, Bob's voice has always had character. And now, more than ever with his raspy voice, he has soul, the kind of soul that people approaching the other end of their lives can relate to. - And so, that, mixed with Frank's often melancholy, and human defining lyrics and melodies, I feel this album will be a success. But again! That's just me...I don't want to be hearing "I told you so" if things should go south. haha _________________ - An aspiring Music Journalist.

Dylan's voice on Tempest was awful...I hope that will be better on Shadows in the Night...

Well, actually, he has released a couple of tracks off the album already - ('Full Moon, Empty Hearts' and 'Stay with me') - and it does sound like he's cleared his voice up quite a bit. _________________ - An aspiring Music Journalist.
