Magnificent, broke onto my overall a while back, still climbing. Think 'Concrete And Barbed Wire' is my favourite but it's great throughout.

One of my favorite country records and should be up there with the modern classics. I love this about the same as these:

Wrecking Ball by Emmylou Harris

Van Lear Rose by Loretta Lynn

Ghost On The Canvas by Glen Campbell

Other Voices, Other Rooms by Nanci Griffith

To name a few.

Depending on the day, this is one of maybe a handful of albums I consider my favorite. Perhaps the best aotd ever. For me at least.

I really love an album like this, where it's like stepping into another person's life and feeling and empathizing with their struggles, and their emotions, and their thoughts. I'd say listening to this album is like being with Lucinda or at least being right there with a character or series of characters she's created. Being there on a road trip through life and places. And Lucinda paints such vivid pictures of these people. Whether she is talking about love, loss, life, work, sex or whatever, it always feels articulate and real.

And the rest of the album vibes with the stunning lyrics. Musically it's just an incredibly well made and emotional blend of blues, rock, folk and country of different kinds. At times soft, burdened and forlornly quiet, other times it's airy and sweet and at other times it's heavy and angry and not taking any shit.

Also god damn I love Lucinda's voice! The way it cracks and aches and feels. She is clearly one of the greatest and most seasoned veteran singer-songwriters out there. And every second of this album shows how much of an icon she is and why. I can't recommend this album enough. It really does completely blow me away.

And as for best track? Hard to say they are almost all perfect. But as far as openers go "Right In Time" is just a perfect, sad, sensual, gritty, polished (hard to pull off both) song that kills me and brings tears almost every time.

But yeah, the whole thing really.

Car Wheels is a magnificent album. I love everything about it. I play "Concrete And Barbed Wire" live at almost every show.

That Nanci Griffith album is great...but these are even better!

I used to love this album, but unfortunately I met her a few years ago and she seemed to be such an unpleasant person. I think we all have bad days, and that might have been one of hers, but I have a hard time separating that experience from her music now.

That being said, CWoaGR is an undoubted classic. Hopefully, I'll be able to listen to it again with out bias.

Really? I saw her play at The Bridge School Benefit a couple years ago, and she seemed like the nicest person on stage. It also says something that she took time out of her touring schedule to play an acoustic benefit for children with mental disabilities.
