I've already posted here, but shit is constantly changing. I mean the mainstays are the mainstays, but some peripheral changes occurred:

My Top 10 at this moment:

1. When Harry Met Sally
2. The World of Apu
3. The Apartment
4. Before Sunset/Sunrise/Midnight (together as one cuz I cheat. Also in that order)
5. Persona
6. The Sweet Hereafter
7. Schindler's List
-----
8. Seven Samurai
9. Alien
10. (Tie) Do The Right Thing/Lost In Translation (another example of cheating. I apologize)

Mild drop off after 7. For me and as of now, those 7 all hold a rock solid place in my mind of being a tier all their own. Truly uniquely brilliant or inspiring or thought-provoking and profound in their own way. I adore all 10, (actually 11, no wait 13) though. The highest regards go to them.

In no order:

The Shining
Casablanca
Badlands
Once Upon a Time in America
Miller's Crossing
Children of Men
Synecdoche, New York
The Wicker Man
Blow Out
Near Dark
Dead Man

Cheated and named eleven. My choices haven't particularly changed since my reply on the second page, although I'd now say that these eleven are a tier above everything else I've ever watched.

EDIT: That's Hardy's The Wicker Man (obviously) and De Palma's Blow Out (less obviously).
