Two of my favorite punk albums of all time. That LAMF album is the real deal and rivals even The Ramones for best NYC bubblegum punk. A teensy bit scuzzier & I like it that way. Been really loving that Congos album too since Skinny recc'd it to me last summer.
I dig Happymeal's singles for the most part especially "White Town" & "like Dylan in the Movies", but Mercury's albums are all classics of their given genres and diverse too with that Fela Kuti EP probably being the sleeper of the bunch.
With 3 albums in my top 10 (including l'Ecole du Micro d'Argent) and 9 albums in my top 100, there's no doubt 1997 is my favorite year ever.
That being said, I have to give it to 77 here, the albums selection is top notch. The 97 picks are more original, so that's quite a brave move, but a mix of some of my top 20 of that year would have got my vote instead.
I haven't heard a single album from that 1997 team, so I'll reserve judgement until I've checked them out, but that 1977 team is very good (if far from unbeatable). Excellent singles selection from 1997, though. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.

That's a bizarre move, but it'll pay off for this round at least.
Well, no. The original, UK version of The Clash's debut doesn't include Complete Control. So I could (and I probably will) use The Clash in a later match as complete control is not on the album. _________________ -Ryan
