Cult Congolese singer Papa Wemba has just died at the age of 66. You might not know him, but here in Paris his loss is mourned big time, as he was a legend in every African hood in the city and had always toured Paris extensively. He was also one the great figures of the Parisian 'World music' outbreak in the mid-80s. He was a master of the Congolese rumba and soukous. R.I.P.
It is not popular music, but still I think he needs to be mentioned here...
Zoltán Kocsis, one of the greatest virtuoso pianists and also a famous conductor died at the age of 64 yesterday.
Feeling really devastated in this moment. I have seen him playing live a couple of times - last time this year in March - and he played every time brilliantly. He is surely irreplaceable in the history of classical music in Hungary. R.I.P.
