I finally listened to a Prince's album, Sign o' the Times that was and it feels like I've been missing out on something. Great stuff that blew me away indeed, especially the funky shit, and I want more.
Two quick questions:
1) How do you guys rate it against his other work ?
2) Where do I go next ? _________________ Always shouts out something obscene

I consider it his crowning achievement and perhaps the greatest double album ever. It's got everything going for it and does so much and all very very well.
As for what next? For that pure funky bliss, Dirty Mind is it. For more of this beautiful unabashed pop and that vibe of going all over and doing everything well - Purple Rain. Or Parade.
Then if you want some long epic electro funk classics and hits "1999" is great. _________________ -Ryan

Sign is a great album. Glad you were able to get into it! It's probably my 3rd favorite album of his. If you like the funky stuff, 1999 isn't a bad place to go for Prince. My two favorite by Prince are Purple Rain and Around The World in a Day, more pop than funk, but a lot of great shit. _________________ Attention all planets of the solar federation: We have assumed control.

I didn't much like ATWIAD on first listen.
2nd listen I'm like, "Okay, yep. Good album."
3rd listen.. "I FUCKING LOVE THIS ALBUM"
