Speaking of childhood listening experiences, I've listened to Iron Maiden for more than a decade, and I really am convinced that this is their masterpiece. At the very least, it's the most consistent.

Been just over half a decade for me. I think that Powerslave is their masterpiece. But this record is no slouch. The first two tracks are some of their best.

been meaning to take a stab at more NWOBHM stuff since i'm effin' obsessed with black metal and a lot of the pioneers of that side of things cite Motorhead as an influence, plus the albums I've heard from Iron Maiden and Judas Priest are fucking great. gonna check this one out tonight but since it's a relevant topic and I feel like this thread is probably more likely to attract people who took the time to listen to it, is the new Iron Maiden worth checking out?

If you are referring to the (currently only released) track from the Book of Souls, it's okay. As a fan it's what I expected from a Maiden single. The real magic with Maiden lies within each album, and the majority of their albums as a whole.

If you are referring to new Iron Maiden as in the past few albums, for the most part yes it is worth checking out. I'm not a fan of A Matter of Life and Death, but Dance of Death, Brave New World, and the Final Frontier are actually really solid start to finish.

Hope that helps! The best albums are Number of the Beast, Powerslave, Seventh Son, and Piece of Mind, but you might like all of it, who knows.

It's my understanding that the entire album has leaked.
