Is it too hurriedly if I call 2015 the best year in Music?

maybe i'm just going through the hype, but when I just remember the beginning of the year, I thought Kendrick lamar's album is going to be the best by a wide margin. And man was I wrong. This year was Full of Surprises. The Albums released were really My type. That Electric/Indie/Experimental kind thing. I have around 8 Albums from 2015 in my chart . In general it was a really decent year with a lot of great artists having a release. And also we had some really Coll Debutes. so I think That 2015 will be remembered as on of the top 3 years in Music.

What do you think ?

I think it is a very good year, but I hesitate on calling anything in the realm of objectivity (best, worst).

It certainly has been a great year, easily my favorite of this decade so far. Personally I haven't really been seeking out new music as fervently as I've done in the past, yet I've found more albums I love this year than I have in any other single year. But I'd say it's definitely too early to call it the best year...these things need some time to age, like a fine wine. Who knows, maybe in a couple years some of your favorite albums from this year will feel tired and played. Or maybe they'll seem even better.

That is totally a matter of individual opinion. As a greater variety of musical styles emerge and music becomes more available than ever before, it is tempting to get a bit hyperbolic. Will 2015 stand the test of time the way great music years of the past have? We'll find out in 15 years or so.

Personally, I consider 2015 a big improvement over the last three years, but still not even my favourite music year of the 10s.

I think that 2015 has been a fantastic year for music.

No Cities To Love by Sleater-Kinney

Vulnicura by Björk

Natalie Prass by Natalie Prass

Levon Vincent by Levon Vincent

To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar

Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometime...ey Barnett

Escape From Evil by Lower Dens

The Epic by Kamasi Washington

In Colour by Jamie xx

Wildheart by Miguel

Currents by Tame Impala

Depression Cherry by Beach House

Me by Empress Of

New Bermuda by Deafheaven

VEGA INTL. Night School by Neon Indian

And that's just the music funneled through to me via my narrow penchant for Pitchfork reviews. Speak to the hand Dancing Shhh

I would also like to echo the sentiments of those saying that such rankings of years is a personal and perhaps even futile endeavor. Personally, 2013 is my favourite year for music but that is because many of my personal favourite albums were released that year. It would probably be rather self-serving for me to declare definitively that 2013 is objectively the best year in music, even if that is my subjective opinion.

The best year in all of music? No. I think that's stretching it. The best year for this decade's music? I can get behind that. This has definitely been an outstanding year for music.

I also have mad respect for the community for having 7 female/female led artists in the year's top 20 alone. All of which have released stunning albums this year.

I'm assuming Grimes will also take a slot in due time. Female artists have really stood out this year. Between Julia Holter, Joanna Newsom, Matana Roberts, Courtney Barnett, Bjork, Holly Herndon, Susanne Sundfør, Sleater-Kinney, Lianne La Havas, Jenny Hval, Torres, Marling, Jepsen, Prass, etc.... It's really been fantastic.

Anyway, I don't believe 2015 is the best year for music ever. I'd say it's perhaps the best of the decade so far though.

Okay, I used this thread as an opportunity to look at my 2010s chart and see how the decade's been going.
http://www.besteveralbums.com/thechart.php?c=15815

It seems like 2013 is the year with the most "exceptional' releases for me, though 2012 is when I "felt" the music scene the most. Maybe I'm just a fuddy-duddy or a contrarian, but I only have about fifteen 2015 albums that are good enough for this list currently, which doesn't even put it in the top 3 years.
