The Music Machine had a modest hit with their song "Talk Talk" , and they had some other really great songs too, but only ever released two albums. I think these two should be considered classics of the 60's garage rock genre.
How can you somehow deserve better? You get what you earn!
There are some really good acts that aren't that successful, and bad acts that aren't successful, so how is that true? _________________ Nothing really matters, anyone can see, nothing really matters, nothing really matters to me.
I think everyone who deserves to have their music known eventually does. For example Schubert, he was unknown for his entire life, but his music was discovered by other great minds later and he now gets the recognition he deserves.
Argent had one big hit with "Hold Your Head Up," and that's all most people know of them, but they were a great group with some strong progressive elements that made for great listening, even if not Top-40 friendly. Thy deserved greater respect based on their canon.
Free were an excellent group and should have had more exposure than just "All Right Now."
Big Country had far more to offer than just "In a Big Country."
And blind guitar slinger Jeff Healy was a killer musician who should have had far more airtime than just the sappy ballad "Angel Eyes."
Not necessarily a "hit" per se, but Dr. Dog's lasting impact on the indie community was "Shadow People" and they slipped off of the mainstream-indie radar (as much as that oxymoron makes sense) right after that. This completely ignores a lot of their more formative and equally good stuff on albums like "We All Belong" and "Be the Void." Not to mention how they ignored the evolution of that sound on the albums they've made since. Here's to hoping that the hype around Critical Equation will bring them back into the discussion this year. Getting some Pink Floyd vibes from it and I think it'll be an interesting evolution of their sound if they carry on like that.
