I noticed how many of my favorite albums in my decade charts were by artists who don't sing. It just seemed like I had an awful lot compared to most people. This could be because I had a lot of electronic albums in my charts. Electronic albums are much more likely to be mostly instrumental, though of course there are many who do sing.
I'm sure that people who like a lot of jazz or classical will have many of them.
And maybe I should have said artists who never vocalize, because I also mean Rap.

Do you have any favorite albums by artists who never sing?

These are some of the ones that I have in my charts that are my favorites.

Dave Brubeck Quartet... Dave Brubeck's Greatest Hits
Booker T & the MG's... Green Onions
The Ventures... Walk Don't Run
Les Paul... The New Sound
Dick Dale... Guitar Legend
Tangerine Dream...Zeit
Neu!..Neu!
The Shadows... The Shadows
Chet Atkins... Finger-style Guitar
Herb Alpert.. The Lonely Bull
DJ Shadow....Endtroducing
Klaus Schulze...a shitload
Plastikman...Consumed
Future Sound of London... Life-forms
The Orb... a shitload
DJ Krush...Code 4109
DJ Vadim....USSR
Chemical Brothers... several albums
Los Straitjackets... Supersonic Guitars in 3D
DJ Spooky... Songs of a Dead Dreamer
u-ziq... Royal Astronomy
Orbital...a shitload
Groove Armada... Goodbye Country ( Hello Nightclub)

And too many house, ambient, and techno.type stuff to mention

The only musicians in my chart that sing are Talk Talk/Mark Hollis, Slint, Joanna Newsom, and My Bloody Valentine (7% of my chart). There are a few words elsewhere, like from Cecil Taylor and John Coltrane, but their music is not typically characterized by it; some musicians in my chart typically do sing, like Roy Montgomery and Aine O'dwyer, but my choices don't feature it. I'm not big on words in music, with a few exceptions from like Low, Red House Painters/Sun Kil Moon, Morphine, etc. I have come around to enjoying the human voice as an instrument; for the majority of musicians, this means enjoying their cadence and affectation and how that interplays with the music. My favorite singer would be either Joanna Newsom or Mimi Parker

Yeah me too. When it comes to newer music that I listen to, it's almost completely instrumental. This is for the last 10 years or so. And I actually get disappointed when there's a vocal. I'm not sure if this is because I'm just so turned off by the singing styles of today, or that I just started listening to a different kind of music. And to be honest, I think lyrics are basically bullshit anyways. To me, the only thing they're good for is to have something to sing along with. Can't believe how many people actually take them seriously. They're usually nothing more than High School level poetry. Heh heh. Or greeting card messages. Cool Cool Cool

Yes indeed. I actually have Love Devotion and Surrender in a chart too. That would've been a great example for me to put. It's awesome. I'm not that familiar with the Buddy Miles one though. I probably should be though, huh?

Well, I listen to so much jazz, that I could make a list a hundred long and not cover all the artists I love who don't sing. So, sticking to rock, here's my few entries:

The Steve Morse Band: Southern Steel

Randy Coven: Funk Me Tender

Michael Lee Firkins: s/T

If we look at albums where there is singing, but not by the named artist, it's gotta be Robin Trower: Bridge of Sighs

Plenty of great ones on the New Age side as well. Here's a couple gems.

Ah, I forgot about Buckethead!

And Satriani does sing on this one:

While it does have some less than stellar vocals making it less consistent than Alien, it does have my all time favorite Satch instrumentals, including The Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing, The Forgotten pt 2, and One Big Rush.

Heavy metal influenced Flamenco played on just two acoustic guitars. Incredible musicianship and really unique (for me at least)

Rodrigo y Gabriella by Rodrigo y Gabriella

I'm getting into that Los Straightjackets album as well Bobby Cool
