This looks fun. Sorry I didn't get involved. But if we do something like this again I will look forward to contributing slightly. I doubt I will be doing more than assimilating knowledge and album recs from you fine people.

Some of the recs have been outstanding (e.g. The Soft Pack, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, The Fun Years, The Weepies to name just a few). Lots of great, off-the-beaten-path electronica, indie rock & post-punk especially.

Yeeah. Looks dope. I will pick a couple morsels and listen.

I would have gone the predictable route and nominated The Tallest Man On Earth for the 50th consecutive time. But honestly I am not even sure what the rules were on nominations. At the very least this thread has reminded me I need to get back into The National. I have a feeling my return to the warmly apathetic vibes of their music is what I need now.

OMG! How could u not like Nest's Retold? Awesome ambient album imo. Nails and Eddy Current Supression Ring are also awesome, but I can see how they might not be your thing.

I consider myself to be a casual fan of ambient, and over 50 albums in, this is the first album in the genre that I would describe as dull. The first few tracks were pretty cool, but then the interesting textures mostly went away and it devolved into uninteresting piano arrangements that dragged on... and on... and on...

Yeah Gemini took a bit of a tumble in my rankings when I gave it a close re-listen and came to the conclusion that it holds up better as a hazy backdrop than it does song-for-song. Still love it though!

I'll even admit that album can get pretty boring, but at least Tilly liked it!
