Yes! Strange Condition is a bittersweet guitar pop gem. Love it! Wake up has that wide eyed youthful exhuberance but it didn't compete here. I'm hoping for an unfathomable Pete Yorn victory!
Did I listen to the wrong Yorn track? Because it didn't move me at all, and it felt like any other modern indie song. I like it well enough and would like it more after a few more listens, but it won't beat Wake Up, which is not even top 3 songs on Funeral. _________________ Finally updated the overall chart

lol. You're not wrong. It's like a more accessible J Mascis ( of Dinosaur Jr) track. I think part of it is the thrill of something new. It's definitely solid and rich in emotion AND something I haven't heard a gazillion times.

That's fair enough. Sometimes the emotions in the song are the selling point, like many of my nominations _________________ Finally updated the overall chart
I nominated this Pete Yorn track because 1. I feel he's vastly underappreciated artist. 2. It's also an excellent song. And 3. It also seemed users were avoiding nominating canonized songs we've all heard a gazillion times, so that's I did too. What happened next? You match it up against Wake Up by Arcade Fire, one most canonized songs by one the most canonized bands on BEA, in the first round, smh

I know Arcade Fire is supposed to be the heat, but I'd much rather spin a Yorn here.

I thought Arcade Fire would get my vote without any doubt but then I listened to Pete Yorn and:
- I should find out more about him
- he gets my vote

It's nice to read all these Pete Yorn compliments. I would like it if Strange Condition could be dark horse and go a couple rounds deep. But this opening round match-up isn't fair. I'm hoping it can pull off this colossal upset. But if anything, I hope it persuades a few users to give musicforthemorningafter a spin. _________________ on such a winter's day

Sorry for the big guns.
I think the Yorn track is pretty decent myself (hadn't heard it before), but I'm going with Wake Up without much contemplation. There's been some brutal preliminaries. _________________ Submit Your List for BEA's 2023 Film Poll!
