Been studying for boards and stuck at home because of stay-at-home orders. Even though I disagree with Mike DeWine (governor of Ohio) on some political points, I do think he is handling this extremely well in our state. Ohio could be a lot worse than it is now, especially in Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati. Anyways, here are the albums I've been checking out:

Dead Screen Scrolls by Clarence Clarity
Recommended by travelful, all of the comments on this album's Bandcamp page are completely correct. This album feels like a beautiful pause on life during troubling times. Gorgeous ambient with some new age in it to make it feel a little more substantive than other ambient releases. It's "name your price", so if you enjoy this record definitely give it a download or throw some $$$ for support.
Haha Sound by Broadcast
Been going through Broadcast's discography recently and I must say I am becoming a big fan. It's like if Stereolab and Beach House had a baby (even though Beach House came after this band). There Stereolab influence is undeniable, but they have a more sweet, romantic feel to their songs. Everything I've listened by them so far has been amazing, but this was the most recent album I've heard by them. I still have Tender Buttons to get to, but if anything I described peaks your interest, give this a shot. I don't know how this band was under my radar for so long because they are far from obscure.

Crossings by Herbie Hancock
I think I have a new favorite Herbie Hancock album. Three lengthy tracks of some trippy, but gorgeous psychedelic jazz fusion. Plus that artwork is absolutely gorgeous. A Japanese CD of this masterpiece is currently on my wishlist.

Find Yourself Along The Way by The Meeting Places
Under-appreciated shoegaze gem. It sounds like if Slowdive went heavier and more distorted.

Death Penalty by Witchfinder General
Normally I like my doom metal more on the slow, heavy, screaming vocals side, but this was a pretty good traditional doom metal album with a NWOBHM feel to it. I thought it was pretty good, but maybe others on this side would love it even more. Thought it was worth sharing

Blue Magic by Blue Magic
Smoooooooooth Philly Soul that went largely unrecognized down the road of time. It feels like a record made of the best parts of the Delphonics. Definitely deserves to be resurfaced. _________________ ...and for dessert!

I don't know if you will like this but I want to throw a recommendation.
It's called Abolition Of The Royal Familia by The Orb.
Definitely a varied album.

Love Broadcast! Added Blue Magic to my to-do list, as it looks right up my alley. Crossings has been languishing there for a while and I should definitely fix that...
Sextant is my current favorite of his, although Head Hunters and Thrust aren't too far behind. _________________ Add me on RYM

Autumn Bells by Gidge
Only discovered it a few days ago and it already has 3 full listens. Perfect ambient electronic for studying. |
Absolutely, thank you! I've been meaning to check this one out anyhow but it'll definitely move up the queue! _________________ ...and for dessert!

I hope you enjoy Blue Magic I wouldn't have even seen this record had it not be recommended to me. I love Sextant too, and I need to check out Head Hunters and Thrust still! _________________ ...and for dessert!

Glad you enjoyed the Clarence Clarity project. I figured it would be up your alleyway.
That Gidge album is a personal favorite of mine. Arguably my favorite Microhouse album of all time. I also heard that new The Orb album it was pretty solid for sure, I could see it growing on me more. It takes multiple turns throughout. By the time the second half of the album is playing it sounds like a whole different album tbh. _________________ Griselda, by Fashion Rebels
