Lmao Pitchfork finally reviewed Godcaster's Long Haired Locusts and gave them a great score for a band with no press agent so now you've got to check it out and not just because freebasing bandcamp told you to
Billy woods also released one of his best albums yet with Moor Mother. It went on streaming services today. Great production too from some of my favorite producers such as Preservation (from Dr. Yen Lo), Child Actor, and there's an Alchemist track too.
As 2020 is coming to a close this is an album that came out from a small artist that I want more people to know about. It is singer/songwriter indie album that I really enjoy! Check it out and let me know your thoughts![/img]
Found this fantastic gem while going through my catch-up list for 2020. Contemporary funk album from Ian Isiah, a Brooklyn-based artist. Fantastic tunes, a lot of 80s funk influence. Very catchy and beautiful. Produced with Chromeo.
Heads up for anyone who has been following the sLUms corner of hip-hop. Navy Blue might have released the best 2020 album of the style late last month. The scene was a bit less eventful last year. I think Pink Siifu and KeiyaA had the best albums but neither were hip-hop. I guess that was eventful in itself with the movement spreading into other genres though. I wasn't blown away by any of the rap releases (although it was cool hearing MIKE rap over some vaporwave) until this one anyways. Medhane had a good album too but given the allegations against him and basically everyone in the scene distancing themselves from him, I haven't really wanted to listen to his album again. This Navy Blue album though...its excellent. Navy Blue is really becoming one of my favorite producers in the genre as well.
