Since it's a song tournament, could we not go to 128 nominees and maybe even have a group system? It's not as though songs are particularly difficult to digest, time-wise (inb4 Keith's noms).

That would be a massive tournament, but if we could somehow make it last less than 2 months (with group system or whatever), I'm all for it. More songs to discover, more of my noms.

I'm a bit wary of doing 128 songs only because the 2000s song tournament ended up taking so long, though I think with the play-ins we might have gone over 128 there. The forums have been a bit more active recently so we may be able to sustain interest for 128 songs. I'll wait to see how long it takes to get to 64 - and also if anyone else voices opinions on separating 2019 out of this tourney - and then make a decision.

Note that doing 2019 separately (and not repeating 2018) would allow for more nominees both from 2019 and 2015-2017.

Could always do a group system, i.e. 4 in a group, top 2 go through > 4 in the next group, top 2 go through > 1 vs 1 matchups. Would expedite the process whilst allowing for greater variety. Just a thought.

My vote is for a 2015-17 tournament and a 2019 tournament, so that we can have more nominees and no repeats. I understand the argument for a single 128 nominee tournament, but it would be pretty overwhelming for me personally. I find it a lot more demanding to decide between songs than albums, because there’s a lot less music to draw distinctions between and therefore hyper-focused listening is a must. Background listening while doing chores, driving, etc. can usually suffice for comparing albums.

Speaking from experience I strongly advise against a 128 song tourney

And. Yeah I remember doing a 2018 tournament but never even : """" of doing a 2019 , it would allow for deeper cuts but remember it's easier to start a tournament than to see it to completion

I think this could be an interesting idea to try. Also, seeing as we had a 2010-2014 tourney, I'd rather see one 2015-2019 tourney than two separate ones.

It would make sense to do 2019 first. I thought we did that already though? I must be getting old.

We had 1, yes. But what about second 2019 tournament?

That is, we didn’t have songs tournament.

No 2019 songs from me anyway so I'm happy to do a separate 2019 after this. We've sort of started this one now anyway so let's keep going as is 2015-2019. Here's my nominations.

Tame Impala - Let It Happen
Deafheaven - Canary Yellow
RÜFÜS DU SOL - Innerbloom

One of my songs is from 2019. Just let me know and I'll switch it.

Radiohead - Decks Dark (Maybe my favorite ever Radiohead song but since there's already an excellent one in the Tourny I'll replace)

Ka - Finer Things / Tamahagene

Young Thug – Can’t Tell Halftime

Wells Fargo - Watch Out

Will save 'Crowns For Kings' by Benny The Butcher for a 2019 tournament.

Choosing on whether to nominate 'Finer Things / Tamahagene' or 'Mourn At Night' from Ka might be one of my hardest decisions of the tournament.
