Leaning towards 2000 here, but these albums are a solid match-up. Not huge on any of the singles from either team, but the albums are ace. Probably my two favourite hip-hop records from each year tbh.
EDIT: yeah, going with 2000

Ka - Honor Killed the Samurai
.
Does anyone have any info on this album cover? My girlfriend Dawn is fascinated by it. Is got a picture of a wolf? Is it a samurai? We have no clue!
I don't have info, but it looks like the view from the perspective of the dead samurai before the grave is covered in dirt. _________________ Add me on RYM
2000 has a fantastic team, but both Honor Killed The Samurai and We Got It From Here... are too strong. Supreme Clientele may be Ghostface Killah at his best, but the album still has a few duds and those 3 minute skits aren’t doing it any service either. The flow of that one has always bothered me (hot take, I know it’s a classic). The Unseen is excellent too, but the quirkinesses can be too much at times, even though I’ve heard the album at least 3 times now. It’s weird, both 2000 albums seem to be the best work by respective (solo) artist, but the 2016 ones hit harder despite not being Ka and Tribe at their absolute best.
I love that Kanye song, I’m a bit of a sucker for Life of Pablo (or at least I was in 2016, don’t think I’ve heard it in a few years now). Forgot About Dre is a solid single, both Dre and Em are at their best, but it lacks that bit of magic which their best work has. Skepta’s No Pressure is fine, Ludacris track didn’t do much for me.
All in all, it’s close but 2016 team is my fave. Both years are some of the strongest of all time if I’m being honest. _________________ Finally updated the overall chart

Aiyyo we headed to a party to go see what's happening

[Quasimoto]
Get on the freeway, yo its after dark
Guess who always pulls up eight behind us
[Madlib] Not again, some narcs...
[Quasimoto]
Letting all kinds of speed cars pass
Just so they can harass our black ass
[Madlib] Nah, not again, what an ass
[Quasimoto]
The Police pulling us over for no reason
Searching the car, like it's nigga hunting season
Yeah, around... asking about where's the pound..
Where's the guns, are y'all niggaz on the run?
You got warrants?
y'all niggas ready for some torment?
That's how they be cracking, it seems like they be actin'
Except it's real life, like they rushing up your residence
Searching your crib, man, they can't find no evidence
Man, this stuff just makes me mad, man
That's what I'm sayin', I ain't trippin' no more
We 'bout to do somethin'
I'm tired of the pigs harassing us every day
