Gosh I barely saw any films this year so I suppose take my list with a grain of salt, but I would rank them as follows:
Soul
One Night in Miami
The Trial of the Chicago 7
City Hall
American Utopia
Nomadland
The Dissident
Borat Subsequent Moviefilm
Antebellum
Honestly I'm only providing these as a ranking against each other since nothing really blew me away. (the more I've watched, the more I actually really liked the top few). I think the documentaries here would have been more interesting to me if they weren't mostly filled with information I already knew. So feel free to not even use my list in the overall rankings.
EDIT 3/25 to include Soul
EDIT 4/29 to include One Night in Miami and Nomadland

Sounds good, thanks! I'm definitely planning on seeing Soul, Judas and the Black Messiah, and Nomadland in the near future, and hopefully One Night in Miami and Minari as well.

Watch it anyway, but yeah. It's a 2021 film. (Really good one though). I don't believe it even screened in 2020 (not even January 2021). Hope everyone agrees that's fair.

Got it, thanks for the clarification. It's definitely the first movie I've been excited to see in a long time. I love Lakeith Stanfield and am glad to see this was so well praised.
Planning to watch Soul this evening, so I should be able to update my list soon!
