I personally try and do it in chronological order, but I'll usually be recommended a random album or pick one at random and start from there, try and move chronologically from there then.

I've not listened to that many discographies actually. There are many cases where I just need to listen to one or two albums more to finish it, but I'm lazy. For example, Radiohead, The Beatles or Led Zeppelin.

I just finished to listened to The Smiths' studio albums yesterday. A truly good band. And of course I've listened to famous bands' discographies with only two or three albums, like Joy Division, NMH, or Portishead.

I've listened to far more than I can count. But these are the most daunting that I've ever attempted.
The Residents
Bob Dylan
Tom Waits
The Kinks
Sparks
Swans

still a couple to go with The Residents. The Kinks discog gets depressing. Swans is just really intense.

Tried Johnny Cash and Elvis once but there's just too many mediocre releases.

And all three have pretty great discographies.

I haven't really kept track of discographies I've listened to, but I've definitely done these:

The Beatles (studio/main catalogue at least, plus quite a few compilation and remix albums)
Simon & Garfunkel (studio and live)
I'm sure there's more but I really can't think right now...
I'm sure I've done a bunch with 1-3 album discographies

I have like two albums left in Queen's discog. LZ's close too. I should finish those at some point.

Those are some really big discographies. Good luck with Elvis

I gave up on Elvis long ago. He was a singles artist, who really wasn't very good anyway

Bob Dylan is the largest I own every official release of. That took forever.

Tom Waits I'm almost done with, need Maybe 1 album.

Otherwise yeah too many others to name.

Haha yeah, I love Elvis, but only the songs that he didn't write himself.
