The great thing about Somnium IMO is the really cool concept and the suprisingly great execution.
I think it would be interesting to know at which point most listeners fall asleep. It's usually halfway through part 2 or somewhere around that mark for me. It might have something to do with my sleeping pattern though.
My insomnia is too powerful for Somnium, so it doesn't exactly put me to sleep... but whatever methods were used to make it, Robert Rich ended up making something crazy pleasant sounding. It just sounds good to me, whatever its purpose was intended for.
I think I get the abstract feel that Midian is going for... it feels a bit weak to me though and it doesn't seem to have much originality. My vote is for Somnium.
