So did anyone else watch Kanye's SNL performance? What do you think about the two new songs he performed? Do you like his new industrial sound, or do you prefer his old stuff? Do you think "Yeezus" is going to be better than MBDTF, or worse?
I personally like his new musical direction, and think it's a really bold move for him. I'm exited to hear the rest of the album. Can't believe it's coming out in a month! I'm not quite sure it will better than MBDTF, but I think it has the potential to come close judging by what I've heard. _________________ "Don't fight it, feel it."
But I don't think there is any question that this album will alienate, or rather, divide his fanbase a bit. The more progressive fans are going love it, probably, but the people who still yearn for the days of Dropout and Registration are going to be completely done with him now. At least that's what it seems like. _________________ "Don't fight it, feel it."
I loved how raw and unrestrained it was, very akin to something like Death Grips. This could easily be his best work yet, and I'm more hyped now then I'll ever be.
The performances themselves were incredible and are further proof that refutes bullshit claims that he's not a great rapper. I'm glad he's going somewhere new musically, lyrically....I don't know...I'll reserve how I feel until I hear the whole album.
For so many reasons I hope he is trolling with that album title
I think New Slaves is just alright, but Black Skinheads I enjoyed way more than i thought I would. I've never gotten too into Kanye's stuff, but it seems like this could be pretty good, and I do have to go back over some of his older stuff. Does seem like he's been taking some queues from Death Grips, which is cool I guess, it's something new for him. Like Jhereko I'm not really sure on the lyrics, but I'll wait til I have a full formulated idea on them to bring up any criticisms.
His rapping and lyrics in Black Skinhead really seem to have grown, really enjoyed that song. New Slaves was good too, but not nearly as strong - I'm sure it'll work well in the album, though.
Honestly if the rest of the album is as fueled as those two songs, he could be on to a winner.
I'm excited. I will now go and watch the performance. Haven't seen it. But I will shortly. Thanks!
And yeah a new Kanye record is a big deal for me, this yet is getting better and better and better! _________________ -Ryan
I was pretty nervous when I heard he was more influenced by hardcore and whatnot, but these songs are both dope, so I now have really high hopes for the album.
