Well it's million times better than Mellon Collie. I like it a lot. It's on my chart, but I don't think that's going to last through the next update. I think I'm just kind of tired of it.
Still, better than fucking Mellon Collie, Jesus.

I assume you like it better due to Mellon Collie perhaps being seen as overlong? I mean I love both records for what they do myself, but I'm surprised how Mellon Collie has gotten trashed in review communities in the last five years.

I like this a little less than Mellon Collie but it's still real sweet. Today is by far my favourite, but then there's cool songs like Cherub Rock, Hummer, Rocket, Disarm, and Mayonaise which are the lovely sugar coating. _________________

Today is a cracking tune, best on the entire album. Mayonaise is sweet too. I like the rest, like what swedenman said, I'm just kinda tired with it. _________________

I haven't listened to this in a year and a half.... I seem to recall I liked it but was getting bored. I guess I'll re-listen sometime today

The length is a big part of it. I don't think 2 hour albums are inherently bad, but I will say that it's extraordinarily difficult to make a 2 hour rock album that doesn't get old by the end.
Mostly it's just the songwriting, though. It feels pretentious and comes across like "hey look we're trying to make a masterpiece", whereas this album feels a lot more natural to me. It's mostly just a personal taste thing.
But yeah, the length is definitely a boner kill in that particular instance.
Oh, and "Soma" is easily the standout track on this album. That shit fucking crunches.

'Disarm' is the only song I listen to. I've found it very hard to relate to this band outside the Melancholy.
