Slowly but surely this album is growing on me. Still , as of now "Spirit of Eden" is more my fave. I also feel SoE is a bit easier to get into at first of those 2.

Jason, I recommend giving Spirit of Eden a listen , a real good listen and really listen to the beautiful dynamics and touches of that album. As a music fan, I can't see how you would dislike it. It's masterful. Then after that album is really solid and you are acclimated to it, give "Laughing Stock" another try.

One thing about it is it doesn't have very clear cut or concise songs. It doesn't have the usual structure you'd expect. But if you go into it NOT expecting all that, and with an open mind to really what the band was trying to convey and acheive, I think it is an absolutely glorious success! Like ppnw, it is sort of like a spiritual journey. That goes for LS and SoE (haven't heard any other Talk Talk).

Oh and this...

...Is really excellently and beautifully expressed! Well written. Actually that little description of it made me want to go back and give this another listen more than anything se on this thread.

I liked it for a while. Maybe for a year or so, but I didn't listen to it that often. I tried listening to it again yesterday. I guess I'm bored as fuck with it now. Oh well.

lol at everyone in this thread thinking they're more cultured and intelligent than Jason for liking this album.

For the record, I love this album for the quiet moments and the jazz-esque instrumentation.

I was listening to the album when you posted this and your words just fit so perfectly. You gave me some nice mental imagery.

I think it's more the fact that making a "worst albums" chart and then posting it on AotD threads instead of contributing anything to the discussion makes you an ass, but maybe that's just me.

When I listen to this album, it isn't like when I listen to ITAOTS, which makes my ears bleed. This album I can't stand because of its aesthetics. It probably closer to how lethal feels about The Wall. It just sounds overly pretentious to me and it just sounds like a band trying to play jazz that has no business trying to play anything close to jazz.
