Plenty of other people have given great recommendations. Maybe some folk punk like Violent Femmes or Andrew Jackson Jihad would appeal to you.

There is rarely, if ever, a punk album I like through and through. Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, The Ramones, and Elephant. Outside of those, it's usually a few songs off of an album. Check out these SONGS maybe:

Sublime - Date Rape
Presidents of the United States of America- Lump
Presidents of the United States of America - We're Not Gonna Make It
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones - The Impression that I Get
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Mr Moran
Less Than Jake - All My Best Friends are Metalheads
Less Than Jake - The Science of Selling Yourself Short
Streetlight Manifesto - That'll Be The Day
Streetlight Manifesto - We Will Fall Together
The Hives - Die, All Right!
The Hives - Walk Idiot Walk
AFI - Yurf Rendenmein
AFI - Cereal Wars
Sweet Baby - Baby Baby Baby Baby Baby Baby Baby I Love You
Sweet Baby - She's From Salinas
The Offspring - The Kids Aren't Alright
The Offspring - You're Gonna Go Far Kid
Green Day - Jesus of Suburbia
Green Day - Brain Stew (The second part)

If you couldn't tell, I'm more a fan of Ska punk and the 924 Gilman Street style. Ska punk's nice because it's not just punk, it's sort of unique and as a tenor sax player I really like the horns. Gilman's got a nice feel of urgency and anger while also having harmonies and some more interesting musical things. Technically the only ones on here are Sweet Baby and Green Day, but the AFI songs, Hives, and Offspring are pretty similar (especially the AFI ones)

Very interesting to see a lot of these recommendations. From a lot of the albums you've all been suggesting, I think a lot of you have a very broad definition of punk - or rather, I have a very strict definition. I'll try to reply to all these recs tonight and then again once I've finished listening to them all.

The Undertones - The Undertones
The Saints - (I'm) Stranded
X (Australia) - X-Aspirations

Haven't heard any of these, but I'm interested in giving Crass a shot as I've heard a few of their songs covered by Jeffrey Lewis

Eddy Current Suppresion Ring - Primary Colours

I've listened to Fresh Fruit and Pink Flag before (Pink Flag is one of the punk albums I've come closer to really enjoying). I can't remember if I've listened to Double Nickels On the Dime, but the others will be new to me.

The Only Ones - The Only Ones
Parquet Courts - Light Up Gold
Public Image Ltd. - Metal Box
The Fall - Live at the Witch Trials
The Slits - Cut
Dr. Feelgood - Down By The Jetty
Johnny Thunders - So Alone
Elvis Costello - My Aim Is True
Iceage - You're Nothing
Television - Marquee Moon
The Pop Group - Y
Weezer - Pinkerton
Faraquet - The View from this Tower
The Cure - Three Imaginary Boys
The Modern Lovers - The Modern Lovers
Bad Brains - Bad Brains
Circle Jerks - Wild in the Streets
Magazine - Real Life

Yeah, plenty here I personally wouldn't call punk. I'll listen to the ones I haven't heard though.

Suicide - Suicide
Fugazi - Repeater

Rocket From The Crypt - Scream Dracula Scream
Chameleons - Script Of The Bridge
Psychedelic Furs - Love My Way

I like Suicide, but I've never thought of it as punk.

S.O.B- Don't Be Swindle
White Lung- Sorry
No Qualms - No! You Calm Down!
AMEBIX - Arise!
Manabiki Chocolate - 万引伝説 Part-1

Wow, haven't heard a single one of these. Looking forward to what I'll find.

Straight up punk albums:
- Against Me! - Reinventing Axl Rose
- Bad Religion - Suffer
- Rancid - And Out Come The Wolves
- The Undertones - The Undertones
- Leftover Crack - Fuck World Trade
- Star Fucking Hipsters - From The Dumpster To The Grave

But for something a bit more thoughtful and melodic:
- Streetlight Manifesto - Everything Goes Numb
- The Replacements - Tim
- Fidlar - Fidlar
- Catch 22 - Keasbey Night

I really love a few tracks from AOCTW, but not the album as a whole. I've heard some good stuff from Fidlar but never tried the album, so I look forward to it. I dig Streetlight Manifesto and Catch 22 but ska is a total different side of punk for me.

Cattlest - the one album I haven't listened to that you mentioned is 13 Songs.

Bork - I'll make sure to check out the extended version.

Pixies - Surfer Rosa
Bad Religion - No Control
Black Flag - Damaged

Love Sister and Surfer Rosa, but don't classify them as punk myself. Damaged has never done much for me outside of TV Party. Not sure if I've heard Let It Be or not, but I'll be sure to give it a listen with the rest.

I've heard a lot of great stuff from the Pogues, been meaning to give an LP a spin for a long time now - looking forward to it!

'Pissed and Proud' - Peter and the Testtube Babies
'Street to Street' - Big in Japan
'Damned Damned Damned' - the Damned
'Another Kind of Blues' - U.K. Subs
'Walk Among Us' - Misfits
'Group Sex' - Circle Jerks
'Teenage Warning' - Angelic Upstarts
'Inflammable Material' - Stiff Little Fingers
'The Feeding of the 5000' - Crass
'Go Girl Crazy!' - The Dictators
'The Last Call' - Anti-Pasti
'Adolescents' - Adolescents
'Spiral Scratch EP' - The Buzzcocks
'Young Loud and Snotty' - Dead Boys
'Scared to Dance' - The Skids

Still yet to sit down to a full Buzzcocks album, but What Do I Get? has always been one of my favourite punk songs so I'm very hopeful.

SilverWalrus - I love Violent Femmes and Andrew Jackson Jihad is pretty great from what I've heard as well.

benpaco - Glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem. I like a good deal of the tracks you mentioned as well.

I have a question - usually, for me, I find that different styles of music are often best enjoyed in certain ways. For example, I like to listen to post-rock lied in bed and disco while cooking. For punk, I think I've found the most enjoyment while driving, but I don't drive enough to give all your recs that privilege.

So, is there any way you would recommend I listen to punk while at home for maximum enjoyment?

Late to the par-par.

Here's what I will say: if you like London Calling I am pretty sure you'll dig "...And Out come The Wolves" by Rancid and "Machine Gun Etiquette" by The Damned.

Those are my major recommendations.

Following are other faves I recommend I general principle but are less precise:
So Alone by Johnny Thunders
Fire of Love by Gun Club
Nevermind the Bollocks...
Pink Flag by Wire
L.A.M.F. by Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers
Leave Home by Ramones
Damned Damned Damned by Damned
The New York Dolls Self Titled Debut

Also what these fine people have been saying are generally badass recs.

Haha, that's a problem I have too. The best way I've found to listen to more upbeat or violent styles of music (punk, metal, alternative, whatever) is to play a video game at the same time. Usually it's WoW with a pair of headphones, but sometimes I just play Super Smash Bros. alone, against CPUs, just to put me in a I-kill-things mood.

Watch the News beforehand, then it doesn't matter what you do after that. Think
