Like most everything Cedrix Bixler-Zavala (is that his full name? I can never remember) is involved with, it's okay.

I don't go back to it nearly as much anymore, but there was a time in my life when this was my favorite album of all time. It's still great. The production is a bit dated though.

Its very good, and I always enjoy listening to it, but there's something that prevents it from being truly great for me.

It's pretty good, actually really good. Not great in my opinion if for no other reason than I feel the production is, as Meccalecca mentioned, sort of dated to that era in the late 90s to early 2000s - I suppose I'd best describe it as being too clean and compressed for its own good.

But the songs are pretty excellent. The playing is out of this world at times. Really cool, hard charging post-hardcore with a lot of great melodies and hooks. I do like it, for sure.

"One Armed Scissor" had a run earlier in my life of being one of my favorites. To this day I think it's one of the greatest singles from that era. I remember hearing it and seeing the video on MTV and just being blown away. I had never heard anything like it before.

Anyway, it's solid. Like 75-80/100.

yeah. it's a really cold, loud sound. The producer worked on a bunch of Nü Metal records and that was the style at the time. it's a shame.

Love it. Been on a post-hardcore binge these last couple of months, this one is a definite standout. I guess you can say the sound is distinct of its era, but I wouldn't call it "dated". It's a word I hate using in anything art related, unless if it's something that is meant to achieve a certain effect and has since obviously been done "better". In music I don't see many instances like that (even that dreaded 1980s snare drum), in movies it would be something like CGI which obviously evolves and becomes more realistic.
