I just wanted to know who you guys think is the best progressive rock band. There are many great ones. Some well-known, and some not so well-known. For this poll I put artists from prog's "classic era". If you want to mention or vote for any other artist or band, just choose other.

I should have added Moody Blues. How could I have forgotten them? They were one of the first.

genesis easy, and you don't even need the "/Peter Gabriel".

they're the best combination of the catchy and the technical, the literate and theatrical.

Pink Floyd is my favorite, but King Crimson needs as much credit as they can get. What that band was doing in the 70s was profound, and the technical prowess on display is hard to match.

I would classify them as experimental rock. Not so much progressive rock.

Abstain. I don't know shit about Prog rock.

Drakonium turned me on to Gentle Giant. They are pretty cool.

Gentle Giant is another I should have added. How could I forget them AND Moody Blues? I really screwed up.
